Seattle groups organize buy local campaigns:

The Washington Retail Association put out a plea this week urging holiday shoppers to spend money close to home and help out their sales-tax-dependent state and local governments.

The Western Washington chapter of Ladies Who Launch, a support group for entrepreneurial women, kicked off a "buy local" campaign last night. The purpose is to "remind everyone that when you shop with someone who's local and independently owned, you're supporting the neighborhood and community," said market director Linda Snyder.
